Reassessment

Its been a few days since I’ve posted anything, in fact, I’ve been very busy reassessing the direction I am going.  Maybe the Winter season is better for drinking hot tea and eating comforting soups. I have come to realized that a juice a day is not in my best interest. Don’t get me wrong!   I still love that fresh juiced taste and the rush I get from drinking “live” juice.  Juicing is a very healthy thing to do but not everyone  can do it the same way. Its no good if it throws the body out of harmony.

A long time ago I heard from one of my teachers that juicing is not recommended for people with AIDS or those with Cancer.  The cold juice weakens the immune system for starters.  Not to say that there wouldn’t be a benefit for some but if you are weak you need to build up and strengthen and that’s best accomplished with warm cooked foods.   The average person these days have difficulty digesting food which accounts for that sleepy drowsy feeling you get after you eat.   A sick or weak person hasn’t the strength to both warm cold food eaten and then digest it.  I never counted my self as sick or weak but…I should consider that having chronic allergy, chronic insomnia and obesity are all weakness, means my health is not as well as I’d like to think.  The ideal would be to have no allergies, sleep well and to have an ideal weight.  A steady diet of raw cold food and juice was enough to tip the scale, my weakness become more pronounced.  There were days these past few weeks I couldn’t stand to think about juice…it made me cold.  On those days I drank warm teas. and felt better.

Juicing is a good thing but it has to be in balance.  There may be a person out there who can drink freshly made raw juice 365 days a year and not feel any ill effects.  I’m not one of them.  I scaling back to a smaller glass and less frequently.  In between my juicing I’m adding some interesting teas and soup to help me get through the Winter.

  1. It’s all about balance and finding what works for you. I am currently on Day 29 of a juice fast, and it’s been an amazing journey, but there are many people who find other methods work for them.

The point is to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle that works for you.

  2. Gogreen! How long is your fast? Are you eating any solid food at all?
